KUEA 2022 Featured Artist

Mike Bombatta is the latest hip-hop artist to emerge from the streets of Louisville, Ky and make his mark in the music industry. What began as a hobby in his teenage years, has grown into a serious campaign to gain recognition throughout the world. 

Bombatta spent his early years recording tracks on his laptop in a basement just for fun. Despite his love for making music, his life was mainly focused on what was happening in his neighborhood in Louisville’s West End. During that time, Mike was arrested for a shooting but the charges were later dismissed. That incident made him reevaluate his priorities and his motivation shifted to becoming a legitimate artist. 

In summer 2018, Mike Bombatta released his first single and music video, Supa Steez. The song became an instant hit in Louisville and was voted Song of the Year at the 2019 Kentucky Urban Entertainment Awards. The success of Supa Steez set Bombatta on the track to becoming one of the city’s most popular artists. 

But the transition proved to be challenging for Mike, who was operating without any kind of management or professional direction. So in 2020 he signed on with Shark Livin Entertainment, a Louisville-based independent label with seasoned artists on its roster in several different states. Shark Livin’s CEO took the reins and introduced Mike to a new world of production and marketing. 

Bombatta is now dropping new music at a consistent pace and further developing his persona as an artist. His unorthodox lyrical style sets him apart from the trends currently dominating mainstream hip-hop. In 2021, Big Bite and Come Alive set the tone for Mike’s progression. His first multi-track project is slated for release in summer of 2022. 

Mike has been chosen as the 2022 Kentucky Urban Entertainment Awards Featured Artist. He will be performing at the awards show in August, appearing on the ballot announcement livestream and participating in other KUEA activities.

When asked about his career goals, Mike Bombatta says, “I just have a passion for making my own kind of music. I went from not being heard in my own city to putting out music to the whole world.”
